The Franciscan Convent of Cavallaro

From the Piano of the dead, going down towards the west, above the village of Coronelle, along a nice path you reach a beautiful plateau where the Convent of the Cappuccini del Cavallaro once stood.
Standing up to about the year 1800, the Convent housed the Franciscan friars who frequented the forest of Bosco Della Martese and studied and selected the medicinal herbs.
The path of the friars for the mountain went around the Mezzanotte hill, reached Sella Ciarelli, climbed the Ara Martese, reached Monte Ceraso, the Ceppo and then proceeded towards the Morricana where the most evocative meadows are found and where the most sought-after medicinal herbs grow.
From the legends arrived for verbal tales to the days it seems to us that it was very frequent to meet the friars in the paths of the Bosco Martese.
There is a story of friars who produce liqueurs and medicinal products for the health of the villagers.
On the spot are found the remains of the walls and, reading the historian Palma, and also the story of Don Felice Lattanzi from Valle Castellana, we learn that the bells of the convent were then hung from the bell tower of the church of Pascellata.
