Peaks and Glaciers
Il Ceppo is nestled in the heart of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, the ideal place for those who love long walks to reach the highest peaks and experience the sensation of touching the sky with a finger. Inside is the imposing mountain range of the Gran Sasso, whose highest peak is known as “Corno Grande”, at the base of which we find the southernmost glacier in Europe, the Calderone Glacier, strong > unique of its kind being between 2800 and 2680 meters of altitude.
With an altitude of a little lower there are the Monti della Laga, with the 2458 meters of altitude of Monte Gorzano and the 2411 meters of altitude of Pizzo di Moscio .
In winter it is possible to go snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and mountaineering.
